HallWrite Publishing
Some people come to writing. Writing came for Cheryl Hall-Russell early — in grade school essays that won awards, in notebooks that held more truth than she could say out loud, in poetry that helped her make sense of the world before she had the language to explain it. She comes from a family of writers. Her grandparents were poets, and her mother encouraged and nurtured her craft. Storytelling was never a hobby. It was a way of being.
HallWrite Publishing exists because of that history — and because of a conviction that the right words, in the right hands, can change how a leader sees themselves and how they show up for others.
What We Publish
HallWrite Publishing is home to works that don't fit neatly into traditional categories. We publish the leadership books that emerging and seasoned leaders wish they'd had — honest, practice-grounded, and written for people doing real work in complex organizations. We also publish literary works, including poetry and fiction rooted in lived experience and cultural memory.
Current and forthcoming titles include The Inner Work of Leadership: Five Practices That Separate Leaders Who Plateau from Leaders Who Grow, The Offspring of Anger (Poetry) & Red Clay & Tombstones (Historic Fiction), and works in progress in both literary fiction and poetry.
For Other Writers
Not everyone who has a story finds it easy to write one down. HallWrite Publishing selectively works with leaders and writers whose manuscripts align with our values — particularly voices in the leadership and organizational culture space that challenge conventional wisdom and speak from genuine experience. We are not a large house. We are an intentional one.
If you have a manuscript or project you'd like to discuss, we welcome the conversation.
Our Values
Voice over veneer. We publish writing that sounds like a human being, not a brand.
Practice over theory. The best leadership writing comes from people who have actually done the work.
Story as strategy. We believe narrative is one of the most underused tools in leadership development.
Intentionality over volume. We take on what we can do well. That will never change.
